Babies Take a Bath for Health in the River Maritsa

According to the tradition, in the night before Gergyovden hundreds of babies were stolen from their houses and on the holiday itself their parents went out to ransom them. It happened on the coast of the River Maritsa, near the Plovdiv neighbourhood "Stolipinovo". The kids decorated themselves with flower wreaths and willow twigs. Mothers and fathers carried lambs for health, and girls forecasted whom they will get married to.
